Yellow-throated marten — size comparison — facts and sources

The yellow-throated marten inhabits forests of southern and eastern Asia, from the Himalayas to tropical islands. It travels on the ground but climbs well and can leap between trees. It is often active by day.

Its diet is varied and depends on region and season. It eats small mammals, birds, insects, reptiles, fruit and seeds. Cooperative hunting of musk deer has been described in the northern part of its range. In warmer areas fruit may form a substantial part of the diet.

Unlike many mustelids, it is sometimes observed in pairs or small groups. Cooperation may help during hunting.
