The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The white-lipped peccary occurs in tropical parts of the Americas. It uses forests and other habitats offering food, water and cover. Groups travel over large areas searching for resources. Retreats in dense vegetation, near rocks and in other sheltered places allow rest.
It eats fruit, seeds, leaves, roots and fungi. Invertebrates and small animal food may supplement the diet, although meat is not its basis. Changing fruit availability influences herd movements.
It is strongly social. Groups contain males, females and young and can be much larger than collared-peccary groups. Dorsal-gland scents matter in communication. Staying close helps maintain herd cohesion while travelling, although group size and behaviour vary between habitats.
