The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The western grey kangaroo inhabits an extensive part of southern Australia. It uses open forests, scrub and grasslands. Resting and feeding places may be adjacent, allowing movement into open space at favourable temperatures. During hot hours animals seek cover and shade.
It eats grasses, herbs, leaves and shrub parts. Feeding often centres on dawn and dusk. Food taken depends on local vegetation and season. It moves by hopping but may also use its tail for support during slow travel.
It forms groups called mobs. Males compete for females, while young develop in the mother's pouch. The species lacks the embryonic diapause typical of some other marsupials. After leaving the pouch, young still use milk before gradually moving towards independent life and plant food.
