Mouflon — size comparison — facts and sources

The European mouflon (Ovis aries musimon) is a wild sheep form associated with the history of Corsican and Sardinian populations and later introductions. It inhabits dry, rocky slopes and open woodland. Adult rams have distinctive strongly curved horns and darker coats than females.

It eats grasses, herbs and leaves. Herds move between woodland cover and open feeding areas, using seasonally available plants. Nearby rocks and forest help combine feeding with rest and responses to danger.

Island and mainland populations differ in appearance and history. Mouflon classification is linked to ancient sheep domestication and remains under taxonomic debate. Herd living and seasonal male competition are important parts of its biology.

Dorosłe zwierzęta mają zróżnicowaną wielkość zależnie od płci i populacji; plansza używa porównawczego punktu około 75 cm w barku, w zakresie 65–85 cm.
