Leopard cat — size comparison — facts and sources

The leopard cat uses forests and scrub and, in part of its range, human-altered areas. It usually needs cover in which to rest and approach prey. Space use depends on local vegetation and prey presence.

It hunts small mammals and other small animals. It most often acts alone, using smell, hearing and sight. It climbs well, although it also finds prey on the ground.

Near fields it may exploit abundant rodents if hiding places are accessible. The female rears kittens in shelter. The young gradually explore feeding places and practise hunting. It is a wild species that contributed some ancestors of the domestic Bengal breed.
