Guinea baboon — size comparison — facts and sources

The Guinea baboon occurs in West Africa, using a mosaic of savanna and forest habitats. It spends much of the day near the ground, while trees may provide safe sleeping sites. Shelter availability affects daily use of the area.

It is omnivorous, taking fruit, seeds, roots, tubers and other available items. It searches for food while travelling and may process it before eating.

It forms multilevel societies in which smaller units remain part of a larger group. Contacts between individuals help maintain bonds. It reaches feeding sites across both open areas and vegetation patches providing cover, and food availability influences the groups' daily movements.
