Coyote — size comparison — facts and sources

The coyote uses highly varied habitats, from prairies and deserts to forests and city surroundings. Access to food and hiding places also allows it to use landscapes strongly altered by people.

It hunts small mammals and other available animals, supplementing its diet with fruit and carrion. Prey choice depends on season and location. Sometimes it obtains food alone and sometimes takes advantage of cooperation.

It may live in a pair or family group or travel alone. Vocal and scent communication help maintain relationships and territory. Activity often occurs at night but is not strictly restricted to it.

nos → nasada ogona; ogon wyłączony. ADW podaje długość 75–100 cm i osobno ogon około połowy ciała; przyjęcie głowy i tułowia jest interpretacją. Punkt to środek zakresu, a nie średnia populacji. Wysokość obrysu wynika z proporcji ilustracji; przód jest przybliżoną projekcją.
