Asian golden cat — size comparison — facts and sources

The Asian golden cat inhabits forests of South and Southeast Asia. It moves mainly on the ground, using vegetation cover while hunting. Populations live in differing conditions, from wet forests to mountain slopes. Golden fur is one of this cat's natural colour forms.

It hunts rodents, birds, reptiles and other vertebrates according to availability. Attacks on young ungulates have also been described in some areas. Where forests meet settlements, hunting of animals kept by people may occur.

It is usually considered solitary. Radio-tracking studies in Thailand found daytime and crepuscular activity, challenging the older view of exclusively nocturnal hunting.
