The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The yellow-bellied toad (Bombina variegata) is a small amphibian of temporary waters in central and southern Europe. It inhabits small temporary pools, wheel ruts and puddles.
Bright-yellow belly areas become visible during defensive displays; ordinarily it stays near the surface of shallow water. It uses small pools in a mosaic of forest and open landscapes.
It eats insects and other small invertebrates. Eggs are laid in small groups. Periodic drying may limit predators, but overly rapid drying threatens larvae.
