The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The yellow-bellied marmot occurs in western North America. It occupies meadows, clearings and open areas with rocks and burrow sites; southern populations are often associated with higher mountain areas.
It eats grasses, flowers and other herbaceous plants, and also seeds in late summer. It divides its day between feeding, resting, grooming and watching its surroundings. Before hibernation it needs to accumulate energy reserves.
Groups show play, greetings and mutual grooming, as well as conflict. Burrows provide cover from predators and winter shelter when fresh vegetation becomes unavailable.
