Spectral bat — size comparison — facts and sources

The spectral bat has large ears, a pronounced nose leaf and reddish-brown fur. It inhabits tropical forests in Central America and northern South America.

It hunts birds, small mammals and insects. Large wings allow manoeuvring between trees and lifting captured prey. Adults hunt after dusk, and scent may play an important role in finding resting birds.

A tree hollow may shelter a pair with their young. Food may be brought back and shared with the family.

Przykład 13 cm z zakresu 12.5–13.5 cm w Animal Diversity Web. To przykład osobnika do porównania, nie średnia ani maksimum gatunku. Skala boku wynika z długości głowy i tułowia bez ogona.
