True’s beaked whale — size comparison — facts and sources
True’s beaked whale inhabits deep North Atlantic waters. Older literature also assigned Southern Hemisphere populations to it. Research showed that some belong to the separate species Mesoplodon eueu, Ramari’s beaked whale.
It hunts squid and fish. Long dives and brief surface periods hinder tracking of everyday activity. Living observations supplement stranded specimens, but many details of reproduction and group organisation remain unknown.
