American badger — size comparison — facts and sources
The American badger has a broad, flattened body and short, powerful legs. Dark patches and a white stripe from nose towards neck mark its pale face. It lives in open habitats with soil suitable for burrowing.
Powerful forefeet dig through earth and prey burrows. It chiefly hunts burrow-associated animals alone and uses underground shelters for rest. Winter activity may decrease, but this does not mean uninterrupted sleep throughout the cold season.
