The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The takin (Budorcas taxicolor) is a stocky bovid of the eastern Himalayas and south-western China. It inhabits mountain forests, valleys and alpine meadows. Short, powerful legs and spreading hooves help on steep slopes. Coat colour varies between populations, from cream and gold to reddish-brown.
A dense, oily coat protects it in cold, wet conditions. It feeds on leaves, shoots, grasses, herbs and twigs. Animals may gather in larger herds during summer and separate into smaller groups in winter.
