Swordfish — size comparison — facts and sources

The swordfish inhabits temperate and tropical oceans. Its long, flattened, swordlike upper jaw is distinctive. A streamlined body and powerful crescent-shaped tail enable fast movement in open water.

It hunts fish and squid, moving both horizontally and between depths. During dives it can warm its eyes and brain, maintaining visual performance in colder water. It mostly lives alone and undertakes long migrations.
