Nesotragus moschatus
The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The suni inhabits forests and dense scrub in eastern and southeastern Africa. It favours dense vegetation, using repeated paths. When disturbed it may freeze, give a nasal whistle and only then flee into cover.
It eats fallen leaves, fruit, flowers and fungi. Moisture in plant food helps it function with limited access to open water. It feeds at dawn, dusk and night but may also appear at other times depending on conditions.
Males mark occupied space with preorbital gland secretions and dung. Their areas may overlap those of females. Solitary individuals and breeding-season pairs occur.
