The Sunda clouded leopard lives on Borneo and Sumatra, using tropical forests. It is difficult to observe, and much information comes from indirect signs and camera traps. It moves well both near the forest floor and in trees.
It hunts mammals and birds. Described prey includes small arboreal animals and larger forest mammals. Dietary composition depends on local prey availability.
It usually leads a solitary, secretive life, often with nocturnal activity. Scent helps communication between individuals. Details of social organisation are less well known than in many other cats. It is a separate species from the mainland clouded leopard.
