Sun bear — size comparison — facts and sources
The sun bear is the smallest living bear. It inhabits South-East Asia’s humid tropical forests. Short, dark hair contrasts with a cream, yellow or orange chest marking whose shape differs between individuals.
Strong curved claws and bare soles aid climbing and tearing wood. It eats fruit, insects, honey and small vertebrates, using a long tongue to extract food from crevices. Usually solitary and mainly nocturnal, it builds canopy resting platforms.
