The common spotted cuscus is a marsupial of New Guinean and northern Australian forests. Males often have spotted fur, while females usually have more uniform coats.
It feeds on leaves and fruit. By day it rests high in vegetation that conceals it from predators. It is more often active at dusk or night. It climbs proficiently using a prehensile tail but may also travel between trees on the ground. It is chiefly solitary.
