The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The sloth bear inhabits dry and humid forests, scrub and savannas in South Asia. It has long, shaggy hair, a pale chest mark and a mobile, sparsely haired muzzle. Termites and ants are important foods, supplemented by fruit and honey.
Its feeding specialisation includes sucking insects from excavated nests. Usually solitary and nocturnal, it uses powerful forelimbs to obtain food. It can tightly close its nostrils, preventing dust and insects entering while sucking up termites.
Animal Diversity Web podaje 60–90 cm w barku oraz 80–140 kg u samców. Na planszy używamy 75 cm, środka zakresu, w naturalnej pozycji na czterech łapach. Nie używamy wysokości niedźwiedzia stojącego pionowo ani wierzchu kudłatego futra.
