Silvertip shark — size comparison — facts and sources

The silvertip shark patrols reefs, underwater elevations and island surroundings in the Indo-Pacific. It occurs both near shore and over deeper water adjoining shelves. Pale fin tips and trailing edges help identify it.

It eats fish from the water column and bottom, rays, cephalopods and smaller sharks. It gives birth to live young. Its broad diet lets it use both prey hiding around reefs and fish passing above them.
