Sharpnose sevengill shark — size comparison — facts and sources

The sharpnose sevengill shark occurs in many warm and temperate seas. It selects outer shelves and upper slopes but is sometimes found nearer shore. Seven gill slits and a single rear dorsal fin distinguish it among sharks.

It hunts small fish, cephalopods, crustaceans and smaller sharks and rays. Young develop inside the female. Its slender outline and pointed snout distinguish it from the stockier broadnose sevengill shark.
