The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The satanic leaf-tailed gecko (Uroplatus phantasticus) inhabits lower branches in Madagascar's humid forests. Its flattened tail has irregular edges resembling damage to a dry leaf.
Dark lines and patches complete the resemblance to a dead leaf. It travels along low branches at night. By day it remains still, blending in through both shape and colour.
Its exact wild diet is poorly known. Captive animals take small insects, which should not be treated as a complete description of wild feeding. Females lay two eggs in litter. Breeding is associated with the onset of the rainy season.
Mierzymy odcinek: pysk → koniec ogona. Smithsonian opisuje zwykłą długość około 9 cm. Orientacyjna długość całej sylwetki, nie SVL. Wysokość postawy wynika z proporcji ilustracji. Przód jest przybliżoną projekcją.
