The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The red serow inhabits inaccessible mountain forests in Asia. The best-documented observations concern northern Myanmar and the adjoining border in western Yunnan. In the Gaoligong Mountains it has been studied with camera traps in wet forests. Some older reports elsewhere require caution because of unclear taxonomic boundaries.
It is herbivorous, but detailed food composition remains poorly known. Long-term Gaoligong observations found activity from afternoon to around midnight, including travelling, feeding and alert watching of the surroundings.
It is most often described as solitary. In the studied forest it sometimes travelled near another serow. Both animals changed their activity rhythms during contact, which may have reduced direct competition.
