The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The red howler inhabits forests of northwestern South America. It spends much time in tree crowns, finding food and resting places there. Its prehensile tail helps maintain position on branches.
Leaves, especially young ones, occupy an important dietary role, supplemented by fruit and flowers. Such food requires appropriate allocation of feeding and resting time. The group visits trees offering seasonally changing resources.
It lives in family groups. Loud calls, often heard in the morning, convey information to other groups and help maintain spacing. The young initially clings to its mother and later starts moving independently. Play and contact with other group members gradually teach it the rules of shared life.
