The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The red-footed tortoise (Chelonoidis carbonarius) is a South American tortoise with brightly coloured scales on its legs and head. It inhabits dry and humid forests, scrub and savannas. The dark shell has paler scute centres, and red or orange scales decorate its limbs.
Compared with tortoises of dry savannas, it more frequently uses fruit and varied foods from the forest floor. It moves between feeding grounds and sheltered hiding places.
It eats fruit, leaves and available animal food. The female buries eggs in soil.
