The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The red deer inhabits forests, clearings, heathland and open mountain country. Adult stags have darker necks, pale rump patches and large antlers. The summer coat is reddish-brown; winter hair has a cooler grey-brown tone.
It eats grasses, herbs, shoots, leaves, bark and forest fruit. It lives in groups outside the mating season. Males compete during the autumn rut, when loud calls carry between feeding areas. Each spring a stag sheds its antlers and regrows them before the next breeding season.
National Trust podaje samcom do 130 cm w barku i do 240 kg.
