Indian flying fox — size comparison — facts and sources

The Indian flying fox has large eyes, a fox-like muzzle and yellowish ruff. It occurs in South Asian forests and other tree-bearing landscapes. Feeding on fruit and flowers, it helps disperse seeds and carry pollen.

By day it rests with other flying foxes in trees, hanging upside down and wrapping its body in wing membranes. Wing movements may help regulate temperature. After sunset it leaves for feeding sites, returning to the colony after nocturnal activity. It squeezes juice from fruit pulp and discards drier remains.

Punkt 23 cm według wartości przeciętnej opisanej w Animal Diversity Web; nie maksimum gatunku. Skala boku wynika z długości głowy i tułowia bez ogona.
