Pronghorn — size comparison — facts and sources

The pronghorn inhabits prairies, semi-deserts and open scrub. White rump and throat patches contrast with its fawn body. It is the only living member of the family Antilocapridae. It sheds the branched keratinous horn sheaths annually.

It eats grasses, herbs, shrubs and cacti. It lives in herds, and some populations migrate seasonally between feeding grounds. It can sustain fast running, helping it escape predators in open country. Fences cutting across migration routes can nevertheless restrict access to pasture.
