Northern common cuscus — size comparison — facts and sources

The northern common cuscus is a nocturnal marsupial with dense fur. It lives in forests of New Guinea and nearby islands. A prehensile tail and opposable digits help it grip branches.

It may spend the day in a cavity, emerging after dark. It feeds chiefly on leaves and fruit. When climbing it maintains several points of support; the tail can wrap around a branch and help bear its weight. It is usually solitary.

The tail’s end lacks dense fur, making branch gripping easier.
