The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
Père David’s deer, or milu, inhabits wet lowlands, reedbeds and marshy meadows. It swims well and readily wades. The winter coat is grey-brown, becoming distinctly reddish in summer.
It eats grasses, reeds and aquatic plants. It lives in herds using wet feeding areas and is the only living member of Elaphurus. It disappeared from the wild, but conservation breeding allowed population recovery and reintroductions in China.
The entire modern population descends from a small herd gathered in Europe before the species disappeared from China.
Lincoln Park Zoo podaje około 122 cm w barku, a Animal Diversity Web około 214 kg dla samców. Te 122 cm wykorzystujemy bezpośrednio; całe poroże pozostaje ponad linią pomiaru. Gatunek zniknął z natury, lecz został rozmnożony i reintrodukowany w Chinach.
