White’s tree frog — size comparison — facts and sources

White's tree frog is a stocky arboreal amphibian originating in Australia and part of New Guinea. It usually has a green back, pale underside and broad head with a prominent fold above the eye. Toe tips form adhesive pads allowing it to climb plants and vertical surfaces.

Activity occurs mainly at night. By day it rests in hollows and other sheltered places that reduce water loss. It eats insects and small invertebrates. It can also use places near buildings if suitable retreats and moisture are available.

Breeding depends on water and favourable rainfall. The female lays eggs in a water body where tadpoles develop. It was long described as Litoria caerulea; the modern amphibian catalogue uses Pelodryas caerulea. Females are larger on average than males.
