Pacific sleeper shark — size comparison — facts and sources

The Pacific sleeper shark inhabits cold, deep waters of the North Pacific. It is a substantial, slow-swimming shark rarely observed directly in its natural habitat.

It eats fish, squid and carrion. Its growth, reproduction and abundance remain poorly understood because researchers have few samples and observations. Bycatch and stomach-content analysis provide some information, but do not yet allow a detailed account of its entire life cycle.
