Smooth greensnake — size comparison — facts and sources
The smooth greensnake (Opheodrys vernalis) is a small green snake of North American meadows, scrub and other low vegetation.
By day it seeks small prey among plants. Green colour helps it remain unnoticed among grasses and low branches.
It eats insects and other small invertebrates. It is usually solitary outside seasonal gatherings. It overwinters in shelters, sometimes alongside others.
Środek dorosłego zakresu 30–50 cm z tekstu ADW; szersze 30–66 cm i osobna tabelaryczna średnia 50 cm nie są użytym zakresem. W obu ujęciach tułów pozostaje w pozycji bocznej, z lekkimi wygięciami. W drugim ujęciu tylko końcowy odcinek szyi i głowa są zwrócone do patrzącego. Skalę obu wersji ustalono z tej samej długości ciała i odpowiadającego sobie odcinka tułowia. Grubość tułowia i wysokość postawy są przybliżeniami rekonstrukcji, nie osobnymi pomiarami biologicznymi.
