Black crested gibbon — size comparison — facts and sources

The black crested gibbon inhabits forests and moves chiefly through tree crowns. Males have black fur and a pronounced head crest; females differ in colour. Like other gibbons, it has no tail.

Brachiation means travelling while suspended, transferring weight between arms. It can also climb and leap, so movement is not restricted to one technique. Active by day, it selects broad-crowned trees for rest. Food changes with seasonal availability of fruit, leaves, flowers and buds.
