Nile perch — size comparison — facts and sources

The Nile perch is a large predator of African rivers and lakes. Its natural range covers many Nilo-Sudanian basins, with introductions to other waters. Adults more often use deeper water and young shallower habitats.

Food changes with growth: small fish take plankton and invertebrates, while larger individuals hunt chiefly other fish. Introductions may strongly alter local communities, particularly where native species had not previously encountered such a predator.
