Narwhal — size comparison — facts and sources

The narwhal lives in Arctic waters, including around Canada and Greenland. It has a rounded head and no dorsal fin. Its characteristic spiral tusk is an elongated tooth, usually found in males, although exceptions and individuals with two developed tusks occur.

It eats bottom-dwelling fish, squid and crustaceans. Deep dives use echolocation in dark water. It lives in groups and moves seasonally between fjords, bays and deeper seas. Beneath ice it must find openings through which to breathe.
