Mantled guereza — size comparison — facts and sources

The mantled guereza inhabits equatorial African forests, including lowland, mountain and riverine habitats. It spends much of its life in trees and can use secondary forest where suitable canopy structure and food are available.

Leaves are central to its diet, with fruit eaten seasonally. A complex stomach helps process fibrous food. The availability of particular trees influences where it feeds and how long it spends foraging.

Groups include females and young with one or more adult males. Daytime activity alternates between feeding and rest. Guerezas may descend to the ground to cross gaps in the canopy.
