Mahi-mahi — size comparison — facts and sources
The mahi-mahi is an active fish of upper tropical and subtropical ocean waters. It travels widely and is not permanently associated with the bottom. Vivid colours and a long dorsal fin create an easily recognised outline.
Adult males have tall, almost vertical foreheads, while females’ heads are rounder. Fish often gather near floating objects sheltering smaller prey animals. A living fish’s colours can change rapidly with its condition.
