Naemorhedus caudatus
The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The long-tailed goral inhabits rocky, wooded slopes in East Asia. It combines the use of vegetation with access to steep refuges.
During warmer months it eats grasses and other green plants. In winter it may take evergreen leaves and other available food. Snow restricts feeding grounds, and obtaining plants requires searching for places where they remain accessible.
Females with young may form small groups, while older males can be solitary. Feeding often intensifies in the morning and evening. Resting near rocky cover and moving skilfully on steep ground help reduce the risk of encountering a predator.
