Linnaeus’s two-toed sloth — size comparison — facts and sources

Linnaeus’s two-toed sloth lives high in the canopy of northern South American tropical forests. It performs most activities hanging from branches; descending to the ground forms a small part of its activity.

It feeds chiefly on leaves and other plant parts. Slow metabolism and lengthy digestion help it use this food. Plants and dew also provide water.

Long, curved claws grip branches. A greenish coating on wild individuals’ fur may result from algae.
