Kemp’s ridley turtle — size comparison — facts and sources

Kemp’s ridley turtle obtains food in shallow coastal waters, with crabs forming an important dietary component. Young first pass through an open-water stage associated with floating Sargassum.

Females may come ashore together in events called arribadas. Unlike most sea turtles, they regularly nest by day. Particularly important breeding sites lie on the Mexican Gulf coast.

Nesting declined sharply during the twentieth century. Beach protection and reduced bycatch help population recovery.

Długość pancerza (SCL): prosta długość pancerza, bez głowy, płetw i ogona.
