Lemon shark — size comparison — facts and sources

The lemon shark’s yellowish-brown colours suit sandy shallow-bay bottoms. Two dorsal fins of similar size are distinctive. It lives coastally near reefs, estuaries and mangroves.

It hunts fish and crustaceans. Young grow in shallow bays and mangrove margins where larger predators have limited access. Adults may gather loosely. Juveniles’ dependence on particular coastal habitats means alteration of these sites affects successive shark generations.
