Eastern red bat — size comparison — facts and sources

The eastern red bat inhabits North American forests and woodland. Pale hair tips give its red coat a delicately frosted appearance. It often roosts among leaves rather than in large cave colonies.

Many individuals move towards warmer areas during the cold season. Hunting begins after dusk and involves flying insects. Males may be more intensely coloured than females, whose pale hair tips are often more pronounced.

50–60 mm HB według Morgan i in. 2019; wybrano 55 mm = 5,5 cm ze środka zakresu. Starszy ADW podaje odmienny zakres ciała 40–50 mm; 93–117 mm w ADW jest długością całkowitą z ogonem. Skala boku wynika z długości głowy i tułowia bez ogona.
