The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The kouprey (Bos sauveli) was a large wild bovine of Indochina's dry forests. Its historical range centred on Cambodia and neighbouring mainland Southeast Asia. Males had massive bodies, pronounced dewlaps and powerful horns.
It used landscapes combining dry forest with open feeding areas. A herbivore, it chiefly ate grasses and other available plant material. Knowledge of its ecology comes mainly from historical observations and surviving documentation rather than regular studies of a modern population.
No living kouprey has been securely confirmed for decades, leaving its current population status unknown. Scientifically described in the twentieth century, its name commemorates René Sauvel.
