The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The kori bustard inhabits African savannas and dry areas with low vegetation. It has a heavy body, a long neck and strong legs. Much of the day is spent slowly walking across feeding grounds. It can fly but usually prefers to walk, taking off when necessary.
It collects insects, seeds, fruit and shoots and also catches small vertebrates. During courtship, males inflate the neck, spread their feathers and display to females. The female lays in a ground hollow, incubates and leads the young. Subdued colouring helps her and the chicks remain concealed in dry grass.
