Kobus kob
The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The kob inhabits moist African savannas where feeding grounds adjoin permanent water. It eats mainly grasses whose availability influences herd movement, and females use extensive overlapping areas. Animals often feed in the morning and evening.
During the day they alternate activity and rest, maintaining contact with group members. Breeding is particularly interesting. In some populations males occupy small territories at communal display grounds visited by females for mating. Elsewhere territories are more scattered. Herd composition changes, and males do not rear offspring. The female usually bears one calf.
Traditional mating sites may be used across generations despite changes in the males occupying them. Drainage and excessive hunting restrict local populations.
Zwierzęta często żerują rano i wieczorem. W ciągu dnia przeplatają aktywność z odpoczynkiem, utrzymując kontakt z innymi członkami grupy.
