The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Kenyan sand boa (Eryx colubrinus) is a constrictor of dry eastern Africa. It inhabits semi-arid areas with loose ground.
Dark patches on a paler background blend with the substrate, while high-set eyes help it watch the surface when partly buried. Secretive and chiefly nocturnal, it moves through loose ground and may leave only part of its head exposed while hunting.
It eats small animals, chiefly rodents. Females are considerably larger than males.
