The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
Grey fur and a usually white, bushy tail distinguish the white-tailed mongoose. It lives in savannas and woodland in sub-Saharan Africa and the southern Arabian Peninsula. Chiefly nocturnal, it usually feeds alone, searching the ground and places concealing small prey.
It eats insects and other small animals. A female stays with her young, but adults usually seek food separately. Shelters include disused termite mounds and hollows beside trees.
Długość całkowita: wzdłuż osi ciała, od pyska do końca ogona. 103 cm to podana w ADW średnia długości głowa–koniec ogona obu płci. Ilustracja przedstawia przykładowy wygląd dorosłego osobnika. Wysokość postawy wynika z proporcji ilustracji; widok przedni i jego szerokość są przybliżone.
