Silvery gibbon — size comparison — facts and sources

Dense silvery fur and a darker cap characterise the silvery gibbon. It is associated with Javan rainforests in Indonesia. Long arms move it between branches; family territory is announced through characteristic singing dominated by females.

A family usually contains a pair and young of different ages. Fruit forms most of its diet, supplemented by leaves, nectar and invertebrates. Territorial calls reduce the need for direct encounters with neighbours, although intruders may also be chased away.
